Privacy policy

The Going Price is a reading site. There are no accounts, no logins for visitors, and nothing to fill in — so there is very little about you for us to hold.

Who is responsible

The Going Price is an independent publication run by one person, not a company. Because the site keeps no accounts, runs no analytics, and asks you for nothing, that one person is also the whole of its data-protection contact: hello@thegoingprice.com. Anything you want to ask about your data goes there and is answered by a human.

What we collect

Nothing you type, because there is nothing to type. We do not ask for your name, your email address, or any payment detail. We do not sell anything, so we never see a card number or a shipping address.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — IP address, browser user agent, the page requested, and the time — for a short period, for security and to keep the site running. These are not used to build a profile of you and are not combined with anything else.

Cookies

We do not set advertising or tracking cookies on this site. What is stored in your browser is limited to:

• Your cookie-notice choice — a single value kept in your browser’s local storage so the notice does not reappear on every page. It never leaves your device.
• An administrator session cookie — set only if someone signs in to the private editing area. Ordinary visitors never receive it.

eBay is different. When you click a listing you leave this site for eBay.com, and eBay sets its own cookies under its own privacy policy — including the affiliate cookie that credits the click to us. We do not control those cookies and cannot read them. If you would rather not receive them, do not follow the listing links, or clear them in your browser afterwards.

Third parties

Listing data, prices, and product images are fetched from eBay’s public Browse API by our server, not by your browser — so simply reading a guide does not announce you to eBay. Product images are the exception: they are served directly from eBay’s image hosts, so loading a page does request those image files from eBay.

We do not run third-party analytics, advertising networks, social widgets, or embedded trackers. If that ever changes, this page changes with it, and the change will be dated.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.

Your rights

Because we hold no account data, there is normally nothing to export or delete. If you believe we hold something about you and want it removed, write to hello@thegoingprice.com and we will deal with it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version replaces this one at this address and the date below is updated. We do not keep a mailing list, so there is no notification to send.
