About The Going Price
The Going Price publishes buying guides for narrow, specific eBay searches — the kind where the listings themselves tell you the price but nothing about whether it is a good one.
Where the data comes from
Everything is built on eBay’s public Browse API for the US marketplace. For each category we read eBay’s own filter data — the aspects sellers fill in and how many listings carry each value — and keep only the filters that split the market cleanly. Filters where nearly every listing carries the same value, or where sellers rarely fill anything in, are discarded because they cannot produce a page worth reading.
How a guide gets written
When a search has enough live listings to be worth covering, we pull a sample of up to 200 of them and compute the real price distribution, the condition mix, and how concentrated the sellers are. That evidence — plus the listing titles and descriptions — is what the guide is written from. Each guide is written once and then left alone; the date it was written appears at the bottom of every page.
Guides are drafted with the help of a language model working from that listing sample, and every one is reviewed before it is published. We do not test or handle products, and no guide claims otherwise.
What is live and what is not
The written guide is fixed. The product grid underneath it is not — it is fetched from eBay and cached for 24 hours, so it reflects what is actually for sale rather than what was for sale when the text was written. Prices, availability, and sellers are entirely eBay’s; we do not sell anything and we do not hold stock.

This does not change which listings appear or the order they appear in — the grid is whatever eBay returns for that search.
